Can I make a donation and keep my name or organization anonymous?

Of course, just let us know if you would rather not share your name.

Where will these funds be held?

Summit Bank in Erie & Only used for Runway 9/27 improvements.  Managed by Committee of Local Users.

Timeline—This year, we will focus on cleaning the weeds and applying a sealcoat.  Our goal if to complete this by September 23th. We will also paint the runway numbers on each end along with new yellow X’s as it will remain closed.  It will look beautiful and it will help preserve what we have.  We will then continue crack sealing and fixing larger spots next spring and summer and beyond.

Will people who donate get accounting updates on where every penny is spent? Yes. Anybody who donates $100 or more will not only receive the accounting updates but if there are decisions about direction or next steps that we can afford at the time, the person who donated will have a vote in the matter.

Is Airport Management Supportive of this effort?  Yes

Will there be a guarantee of the runway being officially opened before I give my $’s?  No.  There are no guarantees in life but the runway will be preserved so that it can be opened and it can be made usable if the town decides they want that.  The last FAA length approved was 2,200 feet for runway 9/27 but even now we can probably only preserve 1,900 feet because of deterioration on both ends.  It will take a lot more money to get it back to 2,200 feet.  This will only get worse to the point of the entire length being un-savable if we do not act now.

Will the preservation of runway 9/27 greatly increase the odds of the runway being officially opened?  Yes.  This effort will beautify runway 9/27 and will preserve it and make possible to open in the future but there are no guarantees the town will ever want to open it.

What if I give my money but only $8,000 out of the total $15,000 is raised?  It will still help drastically.  If we only raise $8,000 then we might not be able to finish the full length but it will help greatly so you can be rest assured that your donation and passion for doing this for safety as a general aviation advocate will help make great progress.  We already have interest from large organizations and from governmental agencies and the more momentum we gain the more people that will jump on board.  Help us lead this effort.  Many experts that have visited runway 9/27 tell us we need to act now.  Another year will make even more of runway 9/27 difficult to preserve.

When will the work be complete? The amount that can be done and the velocity for which it can be done is largely dependent upon raising the funds to proceed.  Our goal is to get a large part of this done by mid-September.  Some work has already begun.  Please take action today and give what you can.

Will any and all work be coordinated with Airport Management? Yes

Will the FAA or Town of Erie fund any part of this?  They have both said No.  Right now, much like Sidney, NE’s crosswind runway will have to be funded privately.  The great news is 9/27 is officially on the ALP showing an FAA approved runway length of 2,200 although it is shown as closed.

Will there be naysayers who will simply demand the town or FAA pay for everything and who drag out this type of  thinking until runway 9/27 is un-savable?  Yes.  If you hear from these select few, please disengage and join the team where our combined passion and perseverance will pay dividends to us, our town and the general aviation industry as a whole.
